This happened to Momo several times too & when he was chewin on his bully stick. I pulled out about 3" of hair, he was making hacking sounds like his throat was irritated. The only solution I found that worked for him was cutting his facial hair, unfortunately.
What I do for Mimi (since her hair is long & she doesn't want me to cut it
), is to band the mustache hair on both sides of her mouth. It keeps the hair from going into her mouth & her doing the weird lizard tongue action lol.
