Edie lost her top 4 teeth about 4 years ago when she was 6. I was upset about it, but the vet told me she would never miss them, and he was right. And since they didn't show when she "smiled" anyway, you can't tell unless you make her open her mouth. I saved the teeth. They are tiny.

These little dogs are notorious for teeth problems. I asked the vet what I could have done differently, and he told me "nothing". I make sure she gets regular dental cleanings. And lately I have added "plaque off" to her daily teeth cleaning regime.

I would not worry too much about it. Your vet might prescribe antibiotics following the removal, in order to prevent bacterial infection from traveling via the bloodstream to other organs. Make sure you use all of the pills.
