I'd have to agree: it's more to do with the individual than the gender. All of my dogs are neutered. The males are pretty laid back, but the male Yorkie can be a real tyrant with the other dogs. He thinks he's Alpha - and he IS - up until he does something that Bella doesn't like, and then she tells him just how the cow ate the cabbage . Other than that, she's a real snuggle bug and will stay in my arms for hours, content to be close.

In your position, I would look for the most passive of the pups, gender not withstanding. By passive, I don't mean timid, I mean the one that's most likely to "go with the flow". And I'd introduce your ferrets to the pup as soon as possible, so the pup thinks "playmates" instead of "prey". And neuter the pup as soon as feasible. You'll hear all kinds of advice on neutering, but I think they're less likely to show "adult" behaviors if their hormones never get them that far, better for keeping a "perpetual puppy" mentality.

Congrats on making the decision to get a pup ... they make marvelous family additions.
