Miss Bella has recently been introduced to my nieces and a family friends children. She was did her normal I am going to hide in mommies hair because they will never find me there. I explained to the kids that she was scared and showed them the proper way to approach to her. She would smell their hands and would allow them to pet her, while sitting in my lap. If she was on the ground she would run away from them but as soon as they would start to leave she would follow them. I figured this was normal behavior for a new situation. Then my brother picked up my niece and Bella went crazy with barking/warning growling. Once he put her down she stopped. She now does this every time someone picks up one of the kids. The rest of the time she is doing the running away and following thing. I am hoping someone can help me figure out why Bella has this reaction.
My first thought was she was being protective of the kids and was afraid they were going to be hurt. Anyone have any ideas?
