I was speaking about a breeder taking in a "rescue" pup and not one of their own. It should be a standard for all breeders to be willing and able to take back any of their animals at any point.
What I was trying to say is ifa breeder decided that there was a dog that they wanted to "rescue" if you take that dog into your home and agree to "rescue" her then it is your responsibility to see her progress to the end result of a permanent home. No matter what the cost or obstacles presented whether it would be medical or training you made a commitment. The rescuer (in this case we are talking about a breeder) should not take on ANY dogs unless they have full commitment to that animal.
When you rescue you need to have a plan of action and be committed emotionally and financially. You cannot say "well I didn't know she was like this" or "we are not willing to do that" or "we have bills to pay" that is not how a rescue works. If a rescue does not have the funds then they do not take in dogs.
It's getting late so I hope that makes sense |
Which is why I wanted the vets number and a form filled in to see for sure I could under take her needs well enough to see it through to her going to her forever home once we had her ready.
Not crossing any bridge that I am not sure will hold me and hurt a dog that is already in great trouble.
