You don't have to do bloodwork, but yearly is a good idea for now.
Fecals should be done annually at a minimum (maybe exceptions could be made for pets that always stay inside and are carried outside, etc.). Some vets do then twice yearly.
Heartworm testing is recommended yearly. Sometimes you can do it every other year or never if pet stays on preventative constantly. We do it yearly.
Urinalysis is also not a bad idea.
I do annual blood work, fecal and urine in all three of mine. Dee Dee gets it done semi-annually as she is on medication so i am extra cautious with her. I do not do yearly bats on dd and she is mvd as once they are high they are high. We had 3 to confirm it so we know she has it and it has gone down since being on low protein no need to redo.

I also do titers at the same time when blood is pulled to be safe. I know it is controversial but all of mine have had high titers for years now

I walk in to the vets office with my bottles of urine and fecal labeled by name.
