Speaking of educating yourself via the internet..........I was banned from my local vet's office after 30 years in 2006!!!!!!! All because of research on the internet and taking my 17 year old cat to Dr. Norsworthy, a feline specialist in San Antonio!!! If only I had known he hated me and my cat so much, I wouldn't have taken her to his office for her to draw her last breath. I am a researcher. I read a lot. I stay on the internet reading so much that my husband is sick of it!!! He knows where to find me, that's for sure.

I just thank God for places like this and for the Yahoo cat group when I needed a cat group.

This is such a wonderful place to spend my extra time!!
yep those yahoo groups are AMAZING. I am on a bunch of them. Now those are some SHARP people. I learn so much from people who have sick animals way more than from vets many times as they are dealing with it 24/7. Yep people do not realize you have no idea what kind of vet you have until your dog is really sick. The basic stuff is easy it is diagnostics that is hard. Also knowing the breed is key and what comes up in that breed. Passion is key to learning and I have become very passionate about this stuff after having a sick dog it really motivates you to learn and pay it forward. It always amazes me how opinionated people can be when they have never dealt with a sick animal and discount pet owners who deal with this and what they know. I say when you know better you do better and there is a reason they call it PRACTICING MEDICINE.
