and GOOD FOR YOU for educating yourself. I have found that specialists LOVE it when people educate themselves and each one has commented to me on they wish more owners would do their homework and educate themselves to better take care of their pets. It is the vets that tend to get intimidated when an owner is more educated I have found and not sure if it is a confidence in their own knowledge or lack thereof. I think when people are confident in their profession they welcome questions and educated people. When they lack confidence and knowledge is when i hear them say stay off the internet etc. and i choose not to work with those people because that is a big red flag to me and a bad sign as it tells me they cannot answer my questions i may come up with on the internet. Why? Are they afraid i might find something out they do not know about? I do not expect them to know everything and definitely accept answers like i do not know but i will look it up as i believe you need to work as a team especially with a sick pet. The specialists i work with say fax over what you found Debbie and let me take a look at it. Then they call me back and say what their take is on it but they never make me feel bad for this and always welcome it and actually a couple times have thanked me for information. Now there is a true professional always willing to learn more about their profession.
Yes, I intend on asking about separate vaccines for sure. In fact, if they don't have separate ones, I know of a couple of other vets that I can call. I would really rather do it that way, too.

Speaking of educating yourself via the internet..........I was banned from my local vet's office after 30 years in 2006!!!!!!! All because of research on the internet and taking my 17 year old cat to Dr. Norsworthy, a feline specialist in San Antonio!!! If only I had known he hated me and my cat so much, I wouldn't have taken her to his office for her to draw her last breath. I am a researcher. I read a lot. I stay on the internet reading so much that my husband is sick of it!!! He knows where to find me, that's for sure.

I just thank God for places like this and for the Yahoo cat group when I needed a cat group.

This is such a wonderful place to spend my extra time!!
