Omg Iams - LONG POST (sorry)

First let me say that I've only heard horrible things about what this company does to animals.

Here's my dilemma. One of my dogs has been diagnosed with allergies. The vet wants to try a 1-2 month "food trial" in where I switch to a prescription dog food containing mostly potatoes and fish. I went to pick up the food and was shocked to find out that it's made by Iams. I asked to speak to the vet as I don't want to support this company by even buying ONE bag of their food. There is not a food sold in Canada that is even close to the recipe that he thinks will help my furbaby.

He says that Iams has disputed the claims on the internet and that there are always two sides to a story. His Iams rep told him that the woman from PETA who broke the story actually worked for Iams and was a disgruntled employee. He urged me to speak to someone at Iams. I told him that I wanted to do my own research first. So I started but I can't seem to find any rebuttles from Iams on the clams.

I'm looking for opinions here. My vet agreed to stop carrying the food if I could prove that it was 100% correct (the stories on the internet). It is not an option for me to switch vets.

Help!
