My household has been turned upside down. After researching all of these things, I will never take mine to a dog park. There are so many things they can get. For instance, with giardia, if a dog poops and has it (even after being picked up), the parasite can live in the ground for two months. If you dog steps on that spot and happens to clean it's paws...he has it. Ringworm is very contagious also. My other two dogs caught the giardia. My yard is clean of poop too. I'm now pouring bleach water on every spot after I pick it up. My husband, my neighbor, my older yorkie, my neighbor's yorkie, and myself have gotten the ringworm. We don't know about my pek yet. All my dogs have to be separated too and we're not supposed to touch them for two months!!! You just don't know that the other dog has it until it's too late. I also took my baby to the ER because I thought she may have swollowed a bell (she didn't) and there was another dog there that wouldn't quit coughing. The owner had just moved here and taken her dog to the dog park. The dog caught it from the park. I'm no expert, but I won't be taking mine anywhere...I've become paranoid.
That's very true too. The dog park also has regulations about the dogs entering have to be vaccinated and overall healthy. There is no one to really regulate that though, people have to regulate themselves.
