I can't see how that is correct about one dog being like 50 people - unless they are talking about hair in the drain. Sometimes those pool store people know what they are talking about and sometimes you are better off testing and maintaining chemical balance yourself.

We had a pool for years and kept it spotless with baquacil . . finally had to switch to chlorine when non-chlorine sanitizers became ineffective - which they do after using them for a number of years.

Anhoo, my maltese hated the pool and we finally got rid of it.

I think this is a really long-winded way of saying - let your dog enjoy if they like the water and don't worry about it! There is no way it's going to throw your chemicals way off and it never hurt my dog when we used to drag him in.

Have fun! It's making me actually miss my pool!
