You should have you had his Bile Acids tested ~ just to be sure
due to being 4 years old and choking not sure that could be it as if liver shunt it would have shown up before 4 with those symptoms. If something was lodged they can lose their breath and get disoriented which sounds to be the case.

It would not hurt to have bats done to be on the safe side but OP has the ALT ever been off with blood work?

I would just keep an eye on him and if it happens again take him in.

If belching then tummy is gassy and could be gastrointestinal issue when he went to vomit it got stuck and he got disoriented but keep an eye on him just to be sure.

if your gut was he picked something up that could be the case as i always say follow your gut on things. If it happens again though then i would have him in asap
