This only last for a minute or two and he went back to normal almost right away. Today he's walking around belching more than usual, but seems back to normal. I'm thinking he probably picked something up and it was lodged in his throat and made him uncomfortable. He's very sensitive. Because he's back to normal, I'm not rushing to the vet, but I am keeping an eye out. Just wondering if this happened to anyone else? |
I agree as all Yorkies need to have Bile Acids Test, but these symptoms could also be caused from a lack of oxygen, after coughing, putting stress on his trachea and causing temporary collapse of the trachea.
There are medications that can help, cough meds prevent the cough which aggravates the condition (when coughing becomes more frequent), and bone/joint supplements can help repair/strengthen the cartilage.
A quick test to determine if this may be the problem is to gently touch his throat. If he coughs, it very well could be CT, and you would want to have your vet make a diagnosis (possibly X-ray) and recommendations for managing this defect, as it will get worse with age.
If his episodes are monthly, this could be an early catch, and feeding bone/joint supplements now could help make a difference in his quality of life in his later years.
Also, this is one of the major reasons Yorkies need to be walked with harnesses only, never use a collar on them.

Hope this helps, and I'm sorry I missed your earlier post.
