I've puppy proofed everything I can but I do area rugs that must taste good and the wood on my furniture legs. I've tried shaking the tub and she runs away looking afraid and I don't want her afraid of me. I also use the bitter spray which I have to take with me everywhere because it wear off for her For the biting I tried making a yeek sound like another dog would do and offering her a chew bone. Sometime she jumps right into my face and bites me and my husband and catches us off guard and she bites like crazy when she wants down. I don't want her to be a biter I've also walked away from her so far is hasn't work but I'll keep doing that and hope she catches on that it is not acceptable behavior. My Maltese's are older so it's been a longtime since I had a baby dog in the house. I had two Maltese the other one Holly passed away at 16 a few weeks ago. thank you for the advise I'm willing to try whatever it takes to have a happy safe puppy.
It's only been a week. You can't expect much in a weeks time. Either do the washer in a tub, the eek sound, or walking away. Pick one, let others in your household know what the proper correction is, and be consistent with them. A lot does have to do with her age, but as a general rule, be consistent.
When I'm home or one of my brothers are, Kaji behaves. He's an angel because he knows we implement the rules that he knows how to follow. As soon as he is alone with my parents, all bets are out the window. He throws tantrums sometimes, climbs up to my mom's desk, shamelessly begs for food, and other naughty things. Everyone in my household has been taught the correction he knows and knows the rules. My parents don't follow the rules, and Kaji knows that. They are inconsistent and Kaji's smart enough to know when to take advantage of that.

I really need to get on to find a post one of the more knowledgeable breeders made. It explains puppy development and what mom teaches at what age.
