I do think it is, or I should say can be, dangerous, although I will tell you my dogs are all over my furniture. The younger they are, the more dangerous as they have little tiny fragile bones.
There was a post on here several years back where somebody had their couch next to a chair and one of the yorkies would jump from the couch to the chair.
I believe the person came home one day and found their yorkie had tried to make the jump, hit the chair wrong, I think broke its neck and had died. That has always stayed with me.
There is a recent post where a yorkie jumped off a couch I think and broke the toes in its foot.
So I think if you allow it you really need to be watchful and it is very important to get doggy stairs and train your puppy to go up and down them and not jump off the furniture.
