Maybe if you play on the heart strings of your vet he will keep him for a couple of days so you can be sure he's not sick before bringing him into your home. It worked for me with my vet , he only charged me cost for meds and vacs no boardind fees as he knew I was rescuing and finding the dog a new home. Also the dog was healthy and he knew I wouldn't keep it cause I only keep the unadoptible rejects with medical needs so he makes a fortune off me anyway.
