I had 2 yorkies, Harley and Isabel, raised together from 6 weeks on. They were 7 yrs old when Harley was killed and Isabel was just lost. I hated leaving her alone all day, so I talked to the vet about getting a companion for her. He recommended a male puppy since Iz was the dominant one in the relationship. I found 10-mo old Moses and brought him home. She has gotten used to him now, but it took a while and it has changed her. She was always my baby, she always slept next to me, always by my side. Now, she rarely sleeps next to me, she seems a little more withdrawn and not as lovey as she was. But, then again, I had Moses 1 day and he broke his leg and required a lot of attention the first 3 months I had him, so that may have had something to do with her withdrawal. But, she will play with him, she instigates their play time, they do not play on Moses' time schedule! I feel better leaving in the morning knowing they have each other for company, even though, 90% of the time they sleep. I say go for it, just be prepared for some personality change in your little girl.
