I started mine on disposable and switched to washable later because I didn't like how they would destroy the disposable ones and I didn't know there was a tray for the disposable pads. Well, I hate the washable ones...my dogs now think every rug is a pee pad. I'm switching back to disposable with the tray underneath but I think it's going to take a lot of work and retraining. I hate not being able to use rugs on my hardwood floors or, worse yet, stepping on a wet spot...yuk!

If you decide to use washable pads just keep in mind that your dogs might want to use carpets, rugs and anything else that feels like fabric as potty pads after that. Mine use a doggie door when we're home and a pad at night or when we leave but they don't always hit the pad...sometimes it's the rug.
