I normally start letting my puppies play around in some gruel (sp?) at about 3 weeks. Gruel is soft canned puppy food mixed with warm water. They will make the biggest mess, but they are funny and they get the first feel of food. I do smush a little in their mouths because they're really not that sure what to make of it at first. At about 4 weeks I soak their hard kibble in warm water until soft, as they get older I soak it for less time. As I feed them more I keep them away from mom longer. I hope that helps a little!!! |
