Try gently massaging your pup before you brush his hair. Acclimate him to the feeling of being touched on his ears, his paws, and so on.

Go slowly, but don't give in if he tries to get out of being groomed. Give praise and small treats to encourage him.

The right brushing/grooming utensils depend on your pup's size and hair type. Always hold sections of hair close to the root and brush/comb with your other hand so that you aren't pulling at the skin. Start combing/brushing at the end of the hair shaft. If the utensil moves easily through the hair, start a little higher up with the next stroke.

Are you having any trouble with tangles or mats?

You can also train your pup to associate grooming with something highly desirable. For instance, my boys know that after grooming, they go for a long walk -- their favorite activity.

Hope some of this helps.
This is great advice I also like to put then up on a table or on my dryer when it is time for grooming. This gets them in to the habit of know how to behave for their grooming which is for a lifetime. Good luck and welcome to YT
