In the paperwork there is a field for designating whether or not it's OK to breed him, but it is not blacked out to indicate that he is not supposed to be bred. In other words, there is no documentation that confirms the breeders claim.

As new owners we would like to breed him, but have no idea how to proceed. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to properly move forward with breeding him, given the aforementioned situation.

Thanks for your help!
Breeder does not want him bred should be enough to not do so. That said are you willing to trial him. title him AKC. get all his health checks to prove out he is a good candidate to bred. Pay to get him late registered and check his line to bred him. If so then I would go back to the breeder and ask if you do all that would they be comfortable to allow you to bred.
If you are looking to do this for the money you get out of studding and having pups...let me tel you money is not something that is easy to make making puppies the right way.
