It sounds to me like 2 things are going on with the poop problem. First their poop should be very firm and hard. Second their tail area should be kept pretty short whether or not they are in full coat. I have 3 and they all have different length and even types of coats and we never have poop problems. To tell you the truth I have not ever had to give an emergency bath.

What are you feeding? That might be your very first problem. Even if its a good quality food there might be an allergy to an ingredient causing the poop not to be firm enough.
