Hi Sweets,
I like the TIGI strawberry yogurt scented detangler...I get mine at PetSmart. Mist his whole body before you start brushing him, and when you brush him, work from the bottim of his coat up, so you can work out any snarls. I use a pin brush with plastic coated tips,they are best for fine hair.
As far as the eye boogies, I try to soften them up with a warm wash cloth or unscented baby wipe, and then gently comb them out with a flea comb, it catches all the boogies.
I try to bathe my doggies when they start smelling, usually every other week. There are great "waterless bath" products to use to freshen them up, I also use another TIGI/Pethead product for this. My favorite shampoos are made by pet silk & again, pet head.
