Brain tumors can occur in any age dog, even puppies, but are most common in dogs older than 5 years of age
if the dog is five years old or older, a brain tumor is the most likely reason for the onset of seizures. Underlying Causes for Seizures |
All of these symptoms are same as Chiari and yorkies are prone to this deformity. When I researched Chiari for my own dog what I found is that some dogs are more prone to Brain tumors but yorkies are not so much. Not that they don't ever get them but they are more prone to Chiari then Brain tumors. With Chiari they develope a SubArachnoid cyst in the brain caused by spinal fluid build up. The cyst causes the exact symptoms as a Brain tumor and many vets have not had experience with Chiari, or they have had but never knew it because they diagnosed brain tumor and the owner opted to euthanize without MRI & spinal due to cost . So many people think Chiari is rare but it is not rare , it is just too often misdiagnosed.
