when I was pouring my Maddie's water dish out last night, I saw something in the water. upon closer inspection, it looked like a WORM!!! got the magnifying glass, but even with my bifocals couldn't see well enough to be sure. I put it with a little of the water in a plastic water bottle. took it to my vet's office this a.m. vet thought it "looked like it could be a hookworm". I also had taken with me her morning poop deposit. they ran a fecal and said no sign of worms but are writing a prescription for a wormer anyway. she was just at the vet last month for yearly check-up and also had a dental cleaning last month. fecal last month was clear also.

I asked the vet tech how the worm could have gotten in her water. her dish is run in the dishwasher every night. the tech thought possibly she had licked her bum and the worm was in her facial hair and then got in her water I am so grossed out I don't know what to do. I have never seen her lick her bum --- yes, her other "area" but not the bum. does anyone have any ideas??? thanks
