It sounds as though poor Rayleigh might have been kept in her crate a lot and not allowed to do much of anything.


If she looks away when you look at her that is a very submissive act. Poor baby was probably never allowed to just be a pup. with love and patience I think that she will come out of her shell.
Yes, I would try and get an expen and leave her and her crate with a blanket over it in it with food and water and some toys. Let her go at her own pace. She will decide when she is ready to explore.
It really saddens me when someone has a pet for the sake of having a pet and not giving it the love and care that all pets deserve.
