I am in Houston an have a little girl that was diagnosed with liver shunt in February 2009. She was 13 months and 3.5 lbs. I took her in March 2009 to Dr Karen Tobias at University of Tenn. to have her shunt closed. They did the scintigraphy, closed the shunt, pulled her baby teeth and spayed her for much less money and I felt like she was in the very best hands that she could have been in. My vet referred me to Gulf Coast Surgery Center which was 5 minutes from my house in Houston and is probably very good, but they did not have the experience with these tiny babies that U of Tenn. I flew to Knoxville by myself with Lola on Wednesday evening and we flew home on Sunday morning. Lola did fabulous - she also has MVD, but is like a different dog. It was the absolute best thing we could have done with her. I also suggest that you join this support group, they have been such a great help to us!
