Perhaps your dogs luxating patella isnt a 3/4 grade, because if he runs and walks fine, and has never had his leg lock up on him maybe he just has a level one LP... but yea im no vet so i wouldnt know but thats my guess. Because when i got my little man from the breeder she informed me that if i allowed him to jump off of the couch and stuff (because he is so tiny) he may get LP so one day, me and him were on the couch and when i got up he jumped off with me and I freaked because i though "OHHH NO!! now he messed up his knees" but when i took him to the vet he said he was fine... but yea back to the point your dog may have a low level.
Also if you give your dog glucosamine treats (like hip action by zukes) you may be able to prevent your dog from getting LP, or prevent it from ever really having an issue with it because I've read that the glucosamine is really good with bone health, and some people give it to thier older dogs to prevent them from developing arthritis... lol but thats my off topic bit |
I had him checked by three vets, without telling them what the other vet had said and they all came to the same conclusion. His knee cap slips out all the time, even I feel it. Like I said, maybe he's a fluke. Thanks for the recommendation on glucosamine, he's already on it.
