I hope that I can help... I am in graphic design, and I feel your pain. I went through the same problematic switch from a PC.

Look on the box of the Photoshop software (or online) and it will tell you what minimum operating system that it needs. It can work on a lesser one than it needs (to a certain point) but not necessarily a higher one. Also, you have to have Photoshop for Macs and not windows.

To find the original program, you should be able to find it in the Finder or go to the Macintosh HD icon, and go to applications, and then it should be listed there. If it isn’t, and it is on your computer, the Finder will locate it.
