You might be making it too tight and pulling her eyes back. What I like to do is after it is in place I use a rattail comb and loosen up the front part. I have used the ouchless band from Walmart but I do think the latex work better because the kind of grab the hair and don't slide when you are putting it up. You can just snip them out at the end of the day. You can buy band scissors and that makes it even easier to remove them and it what I use. I got mine from Mimimomo for $4 and they work great. She also sells the latex bands too for around the same price and they come in different sizes.
