My first thought was a back problem. Arching his back and walking funny could very well be a problem with a disc. Has he walked up and down steps during that time? Have you noticed him shaking at all? With a back problem, they won't do stairs. Did your vet do x-rays? My daughter's yorkie had a ruptured disc once and it showed up on an X-ray.
