Even though holding Cinni while she died was truly painful, it was powerful just the same. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. She truly was in no pain. She just looked at me and there was this strange connection.

She came to us when we needed her. I (yet again) didn't want a dog. My mom was dying at the time. Cinni comforted my kids through those weeks. She just "knew" they were so sad.

And I don't think you ever "should" be over losing someone you love, be it a person or a pet.
