Rosie the search dog. As often as I'm able I walk my two with my sisters two cockers and a friend cross, so they get a proper 'pack walk' which Rosie absolutly loves. She's only got to spot the others and she'll go crazy to join them.
Last wednesday I had them out when Rosies head went down and she started sniffing with intention, next thing she was off like a rocket straight up a hill and no amount of calling would get her to come back, I paniced and started to run around the bottom of the hill, but then stopped and realised who's track she was following, so I called my sister and sure enough they were up the hill on the way round. She quickly confirmed Rosie was right behind them, when she called her she ran over immidiately to join them, I joined them at the bottom of the hill, Rosie was very pleased with herself that she'd found her aunty, and I couldn't get mad at her she was so happy.
They use that track nearly every day so their scent will be there to some extent but Rosie knew they weren't far ahead, just shows even yorkies have a good tracking ability. Rosie is pretty good now on a walk, never moving far from me, but her friends were there and she wanted to join them. |
