Are you single as that makes a big difference too as some areas like Marina Del Rey, Hermosa Beach, Santa Monica are more fun if you are single as there is alot to do there and places to go out

Southern Cali is the way to go for warm weather year round. Unemployment here is brutal. I've been unemployed for a while, and all I can find is temp jobs but it's not enough to live off of.
