I think a little water is fine so long as she's not gulping it down. Just make sure afterwards you keep her quiet and not jumping. We were told for about 2 weeks after Maggie's spay. Maggie was in a bit of pain the first night so we gave her some pain meds and she went to sleep. She was okay but quiet the next day as well. I kept her in her crate the first night to keep Hot Rod away from her.
