Our Toto's regular vet specializes in the Yorkie breed. She assured us that in the tiny ones her rule is 6 months or 2 lbs. Toto barely hit 2 lbs. when she was 8 months so we had to wait. She did great ... much better than we did!
I believe that spay/neuter is very important but would follow the advice of my vet as far as when to have it done. Good luck ... he will be fine I'm sure!
