My 8 month old yorkie has been on blue buffalo I buy the small breed kibble and mix it with the small breed canned chicken but I put the dry kibble in the food processor and take it to a almost a powder consistancy.
She can eat the kibbles but she is so small she sometimes has a hard time so i process it for her and she really likes it
