On two separate incidents I've seen retractable leads fail with (medium size) dogs that pulled. Both times the dogs pulled so much that it unclipped springing back towards the persons face. It missed my mother-in-law's eye by a quarter inch. She bled and had a swollen black eye. The other time was at a park where the person turned away quickly but it got her on the side her head.
So, if your yorkies walk nicely I would get it, otherwise I would prefer the one with the handle.
