Sorry to hear that Lynda.
I always have a contract, even with my best friend. I normally make it simple, list the terms and put a clause at the end that says, "The terms of this contract can be changed if agreed to in writing by both parties." That way if something unexpected happened (like her selling the stud you were supposed to use), you can either agree to other terms, like you getting pick of litter or 2 stud fees, or if you can't agree on terms, she needs to know that she would still owe you a breeding to that stud (come he** or high water) or you'll take her to court!
Without a contract, hopefully you and she can agree on something that will make both happy.
