I think if you got it off in time, you should be fine! I have pulled 2 ticks off of Fiona, and she is fine. Usually, if they have lymes disease the first sign is lameness in the hind legs, some dogs will test positive or lymes, and never show symptoms. Usually when your dog is 6 months old, is when they will test for heartworm and lyme disease. If they show positve they usually are put on a course of doxycycline for 2 weeks, and they will continue to show postive for about 2 years. I'm not happy with my vet, since Fiona is now 2 years old and has never been tested for this, however, I will make sure she gets one at her next vet vist. Just watch the area where you pulled the tick off- sometimes the head can stay in the skin, and it will eventually work it's way out.
