Not for the faint of heart. Unlike AKC shows you will get a written report stating how this judge feels your dog stands up to the breed standard. The quality of the dog must still be the same as for a AKC show. A written report can be harder to look at then just being gave a third place ribbon at a AKC show with no explanation. Keep your cool and do not be insulted.
Do not think that if you have a dog that has not made it in the AKC show ring that you will do any better here. Your dog must still meet the requirements to be shown. They still fault you for bad bites, one testicle, poor toplines, bad coats and etc.
What is nice is that in part of the competition you are not in competition against each other. You are just being graded by our breed standard and how your yorkie meets those requirements.
There is the portion where a Best of Breed is gave- there you are judged against each other.
This is not a cakewalk. Take it seriously. I know of one person who did take a companion dog to the show and was quite upset with the written comments. Her dog was not show quality and would not take anyones word that is should not be shown. She was quite upset with the results.
It is a fun filled weekend with 2 shows held each day. It will keep you busy and on your toes. You will meet a lot of new friends.
Spring shows should be listed soon. There is usually one in Kentucky listed for the momths of March- May.
