If you let the dog run free through the house, you will probably never get them trained. They are great at sneaking around and doing it, so if you never catch them it makes it hard to learn. One thing you can try is putting a bell on the dog so you can hear where they are in the house. Follow them around and try to catch them in the act so you can let them know it is wrong. Never punish them after the fact because it doesn't solve anything. If you take the dog out and it goes you should be right there next to her so you can reward right after the act. If you wait until the dog comes through the door and you say good dog and give it a treat the dog thinks it is getting the treat for coming in.
