Both have members that are heavily involved in Medical Research. These clubs have interaction with specialists and of course share with each other various situations they encounter. We are all in constant communication with each other. What is great about this network, if we do have issues with our dogs, we know whose expertise we can tap into.

What I believe to be helpful is the ability to decipher the medical terminology used in the different diseases, have intelligent conversations with your vet, and to adsorb information for different aspects of the situation that is at hand. I have a medical background and work in the OR so I small understand how humans relate to medicine. If you have a grasp of basic medical facts you can present your questions in an intelligent manner and will receive an intelligent response. I've learn so much from LISTENING to the medical professionals that I sound myself with on a daily basis. If you step back and listen to the conversations of those more intelligent and with higher education that ourself you really can learn a lot. We must have trust in the medical community and seek out information (not self diagnose) for both ourselves and our pets. Just like in human medicine there are excellent doctors and others that do not have the broad knowledges that others keep out to continue their education. IMO, with so much evolving within the medical community on almost a daily basis it is of utmost importance to looks to those that want to broaden their knowledge base.

Then I got to my vet I am always impressed that he will talk about the latest conferences that he has attended.

This is the same with the surgeons that I work with daily. It is impressive when they attend conferences as well to keep informed about the latest treatments of their profession as well.

One of the things that the leading breast surgeon that I work with on a regular basis always tells her PTs is to stay off the internet since there is a LOT of wanna be doctors profession knowledge that is either incorrect or dangerous.

She guides those that are in her care to entrust the American Cancer Institute and to address questions to their team of doctors. I like to apply this idea to my life as well.

It is great to belong to Breeder Club as this would be very similar to going to the professionals regarding the care of our pets. They have at their knowledge leading research to address many issues that involve the breeder.

This is why I regard your input so highly.
