Thats just how shelters work and if she was there first she's first priority. I do think you are overreacting a bit. |
I don't think she's overreacting at all. She's learned a lot about yorkies since she's been here, and now working at a vets. If I had gotten both their apps for adopting a foster from rescue, that lady would NOT have been chosen. That sucks what they did, gave the yorkie away to the first person with the cash.
That's what BIL was saying about Katie, "first person with $400 can adopt her". I said that's not how it works. You want to keep the dogs from coming back to shelters or rescue. Make sure the person and the dog are a match. If they are not, the likelihood of the dog being returned, sold, or worse abandoned goes way up. Esp with all the money rescues use to make these pups healthy (like Katie's surgery) it wouldn't make sense to just give them away to the first person. I know shelters don't work the same way as rescues, but the point is the same, saving the dogs from being back or being pts. They should have checked references.
Rachel, I'm sorry it didn't work out for you, but the right one will come along when the time is right.
