I personally don't have any experience with a pup with hernia surgery. What I can tell you is that hernia's can become strangulated and if he is not able to poop without you pushing in the hernia he needs to have the surgery. The CT is a concern with any surgery but really is there any other choice to repair the hernia? I'm sorry that I cannot be any more help. Hopefully you will get a better answer from someone who is experienced with CT during surgery.
