| Nope, Chloe stays in her pen whenever I'm gone for more than a few minutes. I used to feel slightly guilty when I worked and she was in the pen for four hours at a time (I'd come home at lunch). But now that I'm between jobs, I'll leave her out when I run down to the mail box or something and I can tell she doesn't really like to be left. I think she's so used to going in the pen when we're gone that she's not sure what to do or expect when left on her own. She doesn't really have separation anxiety, but I get the feeling it just confuses her. I leave her at my mom's sometimes and she always sits by the door and howls a few times after I leave or runs around the house looking for me, but after a few minutes she's fine. So I worry she might be worse if she wasn't in her safe place when I leave and there was no one home to distract her. She just sleeps anyway.
Plus, like SweetLips said, I don't want to come home to find a Yorkie whose hurt or stuck or something. They are so small and too brave for their own good. Also, we live in an apartment and even though we are supposed to be notified if the landlords are going to come in for anything, I don't want to count on that. I don't trust Chloe not to run out the door or panic or something if strangers came in while I was gone.
