I do exactly as you do....Bridget ( almost 7 months old) has her own room (which she sometimes messes up so bad you'd think my daughter moved back home...lol)and is double gated (one on top of the other), only because I don't want the cats (who are 20lbs) jumping over the gate just in case they get to playing too rough. We have left her out at night, and all day during the weekends she has free run of the house. On the weekends when she wants to nap - she just goes to her room and crawls in her bed.....that is HER space, and she certainly lets you know it. I, like you hope to be able to let her have free run of the house one day, but our cats litter boxes are in the basement, and I'm terrified she'll attempt the stairs (or miss a turn while speeding through the house and take a tumble down). So for now while I'm at work she stays in her room, with everything she needs....but boy do I feel guilty!!!
