Hi everyone, I'm new here. My husband and I (almost retirement age) have decided to buy our first dog. We have fallen in love with Yorkies, and want to find a cute, sweet little companion to share our lives. I've been reading, studying, and talking to people about Yorkies to learn as much as I can about them. But I have not found a good breeder in my area. Do any of you know a reputable breeder in the Portland Area?

We prefer a Yorkie who will be about 7 lbs. I've talked to one breeder whose Yorkies are AKC registered who might have a male (we prefer a male) puppy that could get that large. I've talked to another who is breeding smaller dogs.

If anyone here has any leads or suggestions, I would be most grateful. Thank you so much.

I see that I will learn a great deal from reading all the posts on this site. It's great to find a community of Yorkie lovers to share the love, the fun, and the challenges.

I've talked to an "Adoption Specialist" at Purebredbreeders.com Are any of you familiar with them? Is it ever a good idea to buy a dog from a place like that? One chooses based on a photo, and the puppy is flown across country to you.
