And if I might add....

Many inherited conditions don't have genetic markers so there is no way to test for them. That's why a responsible breeder is very knowledgeable about genetics and knows her lines many, many generations back. If your male or her female came from a puppy mill/pet store or backyard breeder, their background is unknown. They could easily pass on genes for a disease you are not even aware they are carrying.
