She is totally wiped out. It wasn't pretty. She lost no less than four teeth, one a canine, one that fell out while they were putting her under. They also had to give her a shot for her periodontal disease. (at only 2-3 years old and her teeth were already ruined!) She is supposed to be on canned food for the next 5-7 days (hard on her stomach, I may just mush up some very lean hamburger and rice for her-no decent chicken at the store) and she has an antibiotic to take and metacam for pain. Dissolving stitches in her jaw seem to be distressing her. They also tried to flush her naso-lacrimal ducts (the most expensive part of the procedure) but her right side wouldn't flush, so we may have to take her back to the veterinary ophthalmologist at the end of the month. We spent no less than $530 today just for this. Yikes on toast!
Mostly I feel terrible that her tummy had just been starting to feel better last night, now all the meds they pumped her with (morphine is listed on the bill along with a bunch of others that I don't recognize) are making her look all miserable like she was when she first arrived. I'm a bit angry too, simply because she just looks so sick and the people we got her from couldn't have taken better care of her.
Anyway.... *grumble* She's lying down sleeping it off now. So if anyone has any recommendations to make her more comfortable (I have a hot water bottle in her pen with her) I would truly appreciate it!
BTW, to top it all off...it's May 5 and it's SNOWING outside.
I don't think she's going to enjoy going outdoors to potty, but she hates using her pads. I have to hope she'll use the potty patch out in the arctic entry or I may just be holding her over the toilet when she finally needs to go.
She hasn't even wanted any water to drink yet and she hasn't eaten or drank anything since midnight last night.
